Wadawurrung Urban Design Guidelines Roadmap and Discussion Paper

Country Wadawurrung

Role Aboriginal Lead Consultant

Client Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation

Year 2023 - 2024

Indigenuity lab partnered with the Wadawurrung Traditional Owners to develop relevant strategic documents that:

  • inform all future urban design/urban design and architecture/design projects that design with Country in central Djilang

  • determine and communicate best-practice ways for project proponents and teams to work with Wadawurrung Traditional Owners.

The Djilang: Truth Telling of Dja, Cultural and Interconnectedness of Wadawurrung Peoples and the Discussion Paper: Roadmap to Urban Design Guidelines will be used to strengthen service offerings, provide culturally rich wisdom into all projects in central Djilang and place Wadawurrung as strategic leaders in co-designing in Victoria.

The Discussion Paper provides a systemic audit of Wadawurrung’s service offering, step by step guide to developing and Urban Design Guideline and shifting the power back to Traditional Owners. Both reports include Wadawurrung language and plain language throughout.
